2023 Bryden Boy - Sean Badwell
The year was 2017, I was just a small fish about to enter “Big School.” I was a bit nervous and apprehensive. It was a warm Monday afternoon in January when I started my journey at Bryden.
I really enjoyed every aspect of school life, from the classrooms, hostel and especially the sports field (well may be not always cross-country).
I went through the hands of very caring, supportive, and loving teachers. Grade 1 we had Mrs Kaye, she was firm but loving. Grade 2 we had Miss Connelly she always believed in us, and her laugh was infectious. Grade 3 was Miss Willcock very soft spoken but inspiring. Grade 4 we had Mrs Chamunokara also very firm and caring but Grade 4 also came with Covid-19! Grade 5 we had Mr Leith who was fun, but we still had Covid-19. Grade 6 we had Mr Jesseniah exciting and caring, and we loved our camp to Rifa. Grade 7 we had Mr Roper where there was always a time for fun and to be serious. Exams! Many thanks to all the teachers they made my life at Bryden easier and memorable.
I made sure I worked very hard in class and on the sports field. The sports fields is where I excelled and I received multiple awards in the sporting arena. My favourite sports were Cricket and Rugby, which I also made Mashonaland West for (Thanks Coach T). I was also captain of the Swimming Team.
I was quite ecstatic when I became Bryden Boy. I realised that all my hard work had paid off! I would encourage all the Bryden pupils to always give of their best and reach for the stars!
