2025 Bryden Boy - Noah Muteka
I like to view my time at Bryden as a Journey, one on which I set out to be the best version of myself. I achieved most of my Goals and we will call the rest learning opportunities.
As I started my journey, I aspired to be the best in academics, to attain the attainment award every year. (No pun Intended). Out of the 7 years I was at Bryden I won the Attainment award 5 times. I would like to thank all my teachers for helping me every step of the way.
Along the way I decided to step out of my comfort zone and try something new-sports! So, for the next few years I pushed myself to get to where I am now, having played 1st team for my school in every sport (except Cricket). Rugby with Coach Russie and Coach Bimha, combined with the rest of the Bryden Bulls will leave you no choice but to push for success. One of my greatest Honours was to captain the first team 7s Rugby. Last year I went on tour to Zambia to play Rugby. Hockey, however, is still my favourite sport. Another one of my goals was to not leave Bryden without playing provincial sports. I finally made it into Mash West swimming, all thanks to Mr. Roper. (Who will be missed on the hockey field and besides the swimming pool)
The computer lab was my happy place at Bryden. Being a part of the robotics club showed me that I had a future in robotics, and playing with the Lego robots was a lot of fun!
One thing I always dreamt of doing from the time I watched Ryan (my older brother) perform in Beauty and the Beast was to star in the school play. In grade 5 I got the role as a narrator; it was new and exciting. Grade 6 saw me play The Tin Man in The Wizard of Chegutu which eventually landed me the role of Peter Pan in our performance of Peter Pan this year. This year I also got the opportunity to perform a solo poem at the NIAA and received an honours. Our class’s choral verse performance got us invited to the prestigious honours concert. It was a good year to be on stage!
My life at Bryden was truly an experience. I am grateful for 7 years spent in an environment that can nurture any talent and bring out the best in anyone. From art, to maths, to choir and drama, to hockey and rugby, quiz and spelling bees and early morning cross country runs, I made amazing friends and had the most wonderful teachers.
