Every year we do community services, whether it be to raise funds or raise spirits.
Kidzcan is the only organization in Zimbabwe dedicated to increasing the survival rate of children with cancer. Kidzcan’s founder, Andrea Whatman (herself a survivor of childhood cancer) aimed to provide hope, comfort and consolation to the families and children suffering from cancer through a simple volunteer programme, but she very quickly came to realize the overwhelming need to support diagnosis and treatment. With chemotherapy drugs unavailable and tests for diagnosis beyond the financial reach of most families in Zimbabwe, something needed to be done. Thus, Kidzcan, Children’s Cancer Relief, a Zimbabwean Private Voluntary Organization (PVO) was established. We as a school contribute a generous amount of money towards this very worthy cause, by asking our children to dress in Orange on a specified day and to donate money for doing this.
Annual Old Age Pensioners lunch
Every year the Grade Sevens host a lunch for residents from Greenways Retirement Village and Westview Home in Kadoma, at the school with musical entertainment.
